Your Panda Compressor Nebulizer, step by step.
A plug-in compressor nebulizer in a friendly panda shell for younger patients. The panda pumps air through the tubing into the medication cup, which turns the medicine into a mist breathed in through a mask or mouthpiece.

The parts.
- Power switch on the back: | is on, O is off
- Air outlet on the back, where the tubing connects
- Air filter, behind a small cover; spares come in the box
- Vents (slots) that let the motor cool: keep them uncovered
- Medication cup: holds up to 7 ml; the tubing goes on the bottom, the mask or mouthpiece on top
- Air tubing: either end can go on either side
Get it ready.
Wash everything first
Before the first treatment, wash and disinfect the medication cup, mask, and mouthpiece (see Cleaning below). Do the same if the panda has been put away for a while.
Find a good spot
Set the panda on a flat, steady table near a wall outlet. Keep its vents uncovered: never use it on a bed or couch, or under a blanket. Plug it straight into the wall, not into an extension cord.
Check the parts
Make sure the cup, tubing, and air filter are clean and not damaged, and that the tubing has no kinks.
How to give a treatment.
Wash your hands
Use soap and water. Sit upright in a comfortable spot.
Add the medication
Open the top of the medication cup and squeeze in all the medicine your doctor prescribed. Never fill it with more than 7 ml. Close the cup tightly.
Attach the mask or mouthpiece
Push it straight onto the top of the cup. Use the smaller mask for children, the larger mask for teens and adults, or the mouthpiece.
Connect the tubing
Push one end of the tubing onto the air outlet on the back of the panda. Hold the cup upright and push the other end onto the bottom of the cup. Both connections should feel tight.
Plug in and switch on
Plug the panda into a wall outlet, then press the power switch on the back to | (on). You should see a fine mist.
Breathe normally
Sit up straight and keep the cup upright, never tipped more than halfway to its side. With the mouthpiece, close your lips around it and breathe in and out through your mouth. With a mask, fit it snugly over the nose and mouth.
Finish
Keep going until no more mist comes out; your doctor prescribed just the right amount. Then press the switch to O (off).
Dry the tubing, then unplug
If you see water drops inside the tubing, take the cup off, leave the tubing on the panda, and switch it on for a minute to blow it dry. Then switch off, pull the tubing off by its plastic ends, and unplug the panda.
Giving a treatment to a child
Keep the mask snug against the face the whole time. Holding it even a little away from the face lets much of the medicine escape before it reaches the lungs. A crying child also breathes in less of it, so a calm moment, a favorite show, or a book really helps.
Tips
- The panda hums and vibrates while it runs. That is normal.
- Do not bend or pinch the tubing during a treatment.
Clean it so it is ready next time.
Unplug first
Always switch the panda off and unplug it before cleaning.
Take it apart
Pull the tubing off the cup, take off the mask or mouthpiece, open the cup, and pour out any medication left inside.
Wash the cup, mask, and mouthpiece
Wash them in warm water with a little mild dish soap. Do not wash the tubing.
Rinse and air dry
Rinse with clean water and let everything air dry on a clean towel right away. Never dry the parts in a microwave or with a hair dryer.
Disinfect once a day
After the last treatment of the day, disinfect the cup and mouthpiece. Use a disinfectant made for this and follow its label, or boil them for 15 minutes (never boil the mask). Rinse with clean hot water and air dry.
Wipe the panda
Wipe the outside with a soft, damp cloth. Never put the panda in water or run water over it.
Air filter
- Change the filter every 60 days, or sooner if it looks dirty or gets wet. Three spares come in the box.
- To change it: pull off the filter cover, lift the old filter out with a toothpick, push in a new one (either side facing out), and put the cover back.
- Never wash a filter or run the panda without one. Wash the filter cover now and then (do not boil it) and let it dry before putting it back.
Good to know.
Is the noise normal?
Yes. The motor inside the panda hums and vibrates, and the cup makes a hissing sound as air passes through it. If it suddenly gets louder, check that the air filter cover is on correctly.
Can I put plain water in it?
No. Use only the medication your doctor prescribed, with fresh medication every time.
Should I use the whole dose?
Yes. Keep going until no more mist comes out. A few drops left in the cup is normal; pour them out afterward.
There is water in the tubing. What do I do?
Take the cup off, leave the tubing on the panda, and switch it on for a minute to blow the tubing dry. Never put the tubing away damp.
How often do I change the air filter?
Every 60 days, or sooner if it looks dirty or gets wet. Three spares come in the box, and we can send more.
Can two people use the same panda?
Each person needs their own mask or mouthpiece. Clean and disinfect the cup before someone else uses it.
If something is not working.
Nothing happens when I press the switch
- Check that the plug is pushed all the way into the wall outlet.
- Unplug it and plug it back in, or try another outlet.
No mist, or very little mist
- Check that there is medication in the cup, and not more than 7 ml.
- Make sure the cup is put back together correctly, including the small cone inside.
- Keep the cup upright, not tipped more than halfway to its side.
- Check that both ends of the tubing are on tight and the tubing has no kinks or blockages.
- Check the air filter and replace it if it is dirty.
It is louder than usual
- Make sure the air filter cover is snapped on correctly.
It feels very hot
- Switch it off, unplug it, and let it cool.
- Make sure nothing is covering the vents.
Still not working?
- Do not try to open or repair the panda; there are no parts inside you can fix. Call us and we will help.
